Star Gazing at Los Chozos

Did you know that the Sierra de Cádiz is recognised as a Starlight reserve for gazing at the night sky and the stars?

Here is a brief guide to stargazing:

  1. Find a dark spot: Find a spot away from the lights to get the best view. Los Chozos, a farm in the middle of the Starlight Reserve, is the ideal place.
  • It is essential to be comfortable and warm: use a hammock or mat to avoid neck pain; and wrap up warm (even in summer, when you are lying on the ground, it will be cool).
  • Use a planisphere or an astronomy app (like SkyView or Star Walk)
  • Puedes comenzar observando las estrellas a simple vista o con unos prismáticos, sin necesidad de telescopio.
  • Planifica la observación en momentos clave, como la lluvia de estrellas.
  • The moon: With a new moon, the sky will be darker and you will be able to see more stars. With a full moon, and with the help of binoculars, you will be able to observe the moon's craters.

And now, enjoy the magic of the Universe.
